UNM Lobos add Oklahoma City forward Nate Muriithi for coming season
The 6-foot-6 rebounder becomes the 13th player on the Lobos' 2026-27 roster after committing Tuesday.

Nate Muriithi, a high school senior from Oklahoma City, has committed to the UNM Lobos for the coming season.
The 6-foot-6 forward announced his commitment on Tuesday morning on his social media pages.
He took a recruiting visit to Albuquerque earlier this summer.
Muriithi played this past season at Putnam City North in Oklahoma City and just this past week averaged 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds for Mokan Elite, a highly-respected AAU team, at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in Augusta, South Carolina, one of the top recruited prep events of the year.
He becomes the 13th player on the Lobos 2026-27 roster. The NCAA allows 15.
Lobos head coach Eric Olen said on July 8 that recruiting for the program remains a year-round process, even for the coming season, but additions would only come of there was value being added to the team, not merely for the sake of adding a body to the roster.
In the case of Muriithi, an athletic rebounder, one of the Lobos' primary concerns heading into the coming season based on what was lost from the past season's roster would be replacing the rebounding of departed forward Tomislav Buljan.

Open practice
The Lobos host their second, and last, open-to-the-public practice of the summer Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the Pit.
