Las Cruces police fatally shoot man during drug case
Las Cruces police officers shot and killed a man Friday afternoon during a narcotics investigation.
Officers were surveilling the man in the 2300 block of Lohman Avenue, near McDonald鈥檚, as part of the investigation when agents approached him, according to a news release from the Las Cruces Police Department.
鈥淪hots were subsequently fired during that interaction,鈥 the release states.
The 45-year-old, who was not immediately identified by LCPD, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said a firearm was found in the man鈥檚 possession.
No additional details were given, including what led up to the shooting, how many officers were involved or how many shots were fired.
LCPD said the shooting remains under investigation and further information will be released at a later time.
