A trumpet, a frog enclosure, a pineapple and a shopping cart were just a few of the items customers brought to be filled with ice cream during Mrs. Sprinkles' Anything But a Cup Day.

Mrs. Sprinkles Ice Cream Parlor held its second annual  contest earlier this month, inviting customers to bring almost any container they could find to hold their ice cream.

"This is the most fun event of the year for me," said Amanda Bridgman, owner of Mrs. Sprinkles. "We had to bring it back."

The event packed the parlor, with customers bringing 213 unique items by the end of the day.

"I think it's amazing. We all need more community in our lives, and it's fun to see unique things like this that encourage creative people to do what they do," said Winsuma P.

Customers competed for a year of free ice cream 鈥� one free item per month from the parlor. All 213 entries were judged by a panel of 12 judges, many of whom were from out of state. Bridgman said she uses outside judges to avoid personal bias.

This year's first-place winner was 7-year-old Issac King, who brought his toy claw machine. Many children entered the competition, and several parents said they appreciated the event's family friendly atmosphere.

"I think it's a good way to get kids involved, especially because I feel like this town doesn't always have kid-friendly events," said Jessica Johnson.

"I appreciate the simplicity and fun of it," said Theodore Bridgman. "With the way society is today, everything seems focused on negative things, and this is just a fun, creative event."

Although the next Anything But a Cup Day is still months away, Mrs. Sprinkles prides itself on hosting frequent community events. These include fundraisers for nonprofits such as Birds of a Feather Parrot Rescue, Nine Lives Rescue and Cross My Paws, as well as a recent partnership with Make-A-Wish.

"I wanted to create a space where families can come for generations," Amanda Bridgman said. "It's built on community, fun and kindness."
