Lobo volleyball heading to Europe thanks to anonymous donor
UNM squad will play between four and six matches overseas this summer
UNM volleyball is set to embark on a 12-day European tour this summer, thanks to a donation from an anonymous donor.
The trip, lasting from June 2鈥�14, will have the team traveling to four countries and competing in up to six international matches in preparation for next season.
According to a release from UNM, the Lobos will open their tour in Prague, Czech Republic, before continuing on to Vienna, Austria, then Maribor, Slovenia, and finally Milan, Italy.
UNM will play between four and six matches against local club and professional teams, providing valuable international competition and offseason development.
The NCAA permits programs to take one foreign tour every four years, offering teams the opportunity for additional practices and competition outside of the traditional season.
鈥淔or the Lobos, the trip is meant to be both a competitive and cultural experience 鈥� blending high-level volleyball with the opportunity to explore some of Europe鈥檚 most historic cities and promote team bonding ahead of the 2026 season,鈥� the team said in the release.
The relase also states the trip 鈥渨as made possible thanks to a generous donation to the program from an anonymous donor.鈥�
鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited for our upcoming trip to Europe,鈥� said first-year head coach Brian Hosfeld. 鈥淭he opportunity to train together, travel together, and compete internationally is an experience that should help launch us into our 2026 competitive season.

In addition to competition, the Lobos will tour historic landmarks, engage in team-building activities and embark on guided city tours and visits to some of Europe鈥檚 most iconic architectural and cultural sites.
