Usmonov, wife and son injured in crash

Bekhzod Usmonov, says Mike Winkeljohn, is impossible not to like. Yes, he hits people for a living, but never with malice. He just happens to be good at it.
鈥淗e never stops smiling, never stops saying nice things to people,鈥� said Winkeljohn, one of Usmonov鈥檚 coaches at Albuquerque鈥檚 Jackson-Wink MMA.
Recently, Usmonov, his wife, Victoria, and Maximus, the couple鈥檚 1-year-old son, were involved in a violent car crash.
Victoria and Maximus are hospitalized with serious and debilitating injuries. Usmonov was injured as well.
鈥淲e鈥檙e hoping for the best, praying,鈥� Winkeljohn said.
Usmonov is 11-5 as an MMA fighter and 2-1 as bare-knuckle fighter but did not have a fight scheduled when the accident occurred. He hasn鈥檛 fought since Feb. 28, when he defeated Keith Richardson by first-round TKO on a BKFC bare-knuckle card at the Kiva Auditorium.
