Holmans USA names new CEO after death of John Santoru
IT services company also announced leadership shakeup, new board of directors to help it ‘through this transition’
The Albuquerque-based IT services company Holmans USA has named a new CEO following the death of its previous leader, John Santoru.
The company on Wednesday said Carlos Garcia, the company’s chief operating officer, will step into the top executive position. Garcia has been with the company for more than 25 years.
“... I am truly honored to step into the role of CEO at such a pivotal moment in our journey,” Garcia said in a statement.
Santoru died in late February following a medical incident at 58 years old. He had been with the company for more than three decades, starting as a distribution specialist while attending the University of New Mexico before purchasing Holmans in 2022.
Santoru took the humble company to new heights, forging contracts with government agencies and national laboratories across the country and increasing its employees’ wages.
Garcia is a longtime Holmans employee, starting in the early 2000s as a web content specialist before becoming the company’s COO in 2021. Garcia holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UNM.
The company also said Wednesday that it is promoting Leroy Archuleta to chief revenue officer and Mike Renna to chief operating officer.
The company also said it has formed a board of directors to “help guide the company through this transition and into the future.” Santoru’s wife, Sarah Smith Santoru, Tim Reynolds and former owner Tony Trujillo are the board’s inaugural members.
“I’m honored to serve on the Board of Directors at the nomination of the Santoru family and will work closely with the leadership team to ensure continuity in our business practices and long-term strategy,” Trujillo said in a statement. “Holmans is well-positioned for continued growth, building on John Santoru’s leadership and dedication to making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.”
