TAOS — This small town’s newest option for vacation lodging continues to earn nods from major lifestyle magazines, with Travel + Leisure most recently naming Hotel Willa to its

Built from the remains of the shuttered Indian Hills Inn just south of downtown Taos, Hotel Willa is the latest opening under Casetta and the company’s first venture outside of California, where it operates five other boutique hotels.

For the sub-category of Travel + Leisure’s annual “It List,” the magazine reviewed more than 250 properties across 40 countries to arrive at its final list of 100, describing Hotel Willa as a “sanctuary for art lovers and design-forward travelers” in its original review of the hotel last June.

“When Hotel Willa opened at the gateway to the Downtown Historic District, it gave them somewhere worthy to land,” Travel + Leisure said of Hotel Willa’s inclusion in its “Best New Hotels” list, which was published this month.

Condé Nast Traveler featured Hotel Willa and Esquire named the hotel to its “Best New Hotels in the World 2026” list earlier in April.

When it opened last May to include 51 rooms, a late-night restaurant, bar and an art gallery, Hotel Willa joined a wave of new development on the southern edge of Taos.

Since opening, the hotel has integrated several local ventures under its roof, including headquarters for the annual fall arts festival Paseo Project and Heritage Inspirations, a local tourism company.

Hotel Willa is also serving as a key venue for the inaugural Taos Film Festival, which took place over the weekend.

Casetta appointed Jennifer Armbruster, a five-year employee of the brand, as president in November.

“From the beginning, the focus at Casetta has been on building something that feels connected to Taos and its community, which starts with the team on the ground,” Armbruster said. “(Hotel) Willa has been a long time in the making, and it’s exciting to see how people have connected with both the hotel and the place.”
