What steps do you believe should be taken to improve New Mexico's economic competitiveness? 

We slash taxes, cut red tape, protect oil and gas, and make New Mexico the easiest place in the Southwest to start and keep a business. We focus on skilled trades, energy, agriculture, and small business instead of more bureaucracy and woke mandates.

New Mexico is the only state that does not pay its legislators a salary, though lawmakers do receive per diem payments and can qualify for a legislative pension. Do you support or oppose the proposed constitutional amendment calling for a new legislative salary tied to the median family income level? 

I oppose this amendment. Public service is a duty, not a career path. Tying legislative pay to median income invites career politicians and self鈥慸ealing. Fix ethics, transparency, and performance first before asking struggling New Mexico families to fund higher salaries for politicians.

With New Mexico now the nation鈥檚 second-highest oil producing state, would you support or oppose changes to the state鈥檚 gross receipts tax and personal income tax structures? Please explain. 

With record oil production, we should cut gross receipts and income taxes, not invent new ways to tax our people. Use surplus revenue to simplify and lower taxes, attract employers, and put more money back into the pockets of working New Mexicans.

Would you support or oppose imposing water use limits on data centers? In addition, would you generally support or oppose banning data centers in New Mexico? 

I support strict, enforceable water-use limits for data centers, with real penalties. But I oppose a blanket ban. We need jobs and investment, not knee鈥慾erk prohibitions. If a data center cannot operate responsibly in our desert climate, it should not be approved.

Amid a recent string of high-profile criminal cases involving juvenile defendants, do you support or oppose imposing stricter sentences for adolescents convicted of certain violent crimes? 

I support tougher sentences for juveniles who commit serious violent crimes. Accountability must mean something. The current 鈥渃atch and release鈥� culture is failing victims and communities. Repeat and violent offenders should face real consequences, while truly low鈥憆isk youth get structured opportunities to turn around.

Would you support or oppose a ban on selling certain types of firearms, including semiautomatic firearms and machine guns? 

I oppose any ban on semiautomatic firearms. Law鈥慳biding citizens have a constitutional right to defend themselves and their families. Criminals, not responsible gun owners, are the problem. Enforce existing laws, target violent offenders, and stop pretending more gun control will fix failed policies.

Do you support or oppose using New Mexico鈥檚 National Guard to assist local law enforcement with issues related to public safety? 

I support using the New Mexico National Guard to assist law enforcement when crime is out of control. Cartels, traffickers, and violent criminals are terrorizing communities. The Guard can help secure borders, reinforce hotspots, and restore order until local agencies regain control.

What changes would you propose to improve New Mexico鈥檚 Children, Youth and Families Department? 

We overhaul CYFD from top to bottom: accountability, transparency, and protection of children, not the system. Clean out failed leadership, empower frontline workers, partner with faith鈥慴ased and community organizations, and put strict timelines and metrics in place so abused kids are not lost in bureaucracy.

What steps should be taken to bring New Mexico into compliance with the 2018 court ruling that found New Mexico is failing to provide a sufficient education to all students? 

We refocus schools on basics: reading, writing, math, discipline, and high expectations. Fund classrooms, not bloated administration. Empower parents with real choice, expand high鈥憅uality charters and vocational tracks, and hold districts accountable for outcomes instead of paperwork designed to satisfy judges and unions.

New Mexico has seen a string of devastating wildfires and floods in recent years. What policy steps, if any, should the state take to address these natural disasters? 

We invest in aggressive forest management, controlled burns, and clearing fuel loads instead of waiting for disasters. Strengthen local firefighting capacity, streamline emergency response, and demand federal partners manage their lands responsibly. New Mexicans deserve prevention, not excuses after communities burn or flood.

Would you support or oppose a paid family and medical leave program that would require most employees and employers to pay into a state-run fund? 

I oppose a mandatory, state鈥憆un paid leave tax on workers and employers. Small businesses are already drowning in costs and regulations. Let employers and employees design benefits that fit their needs, instead of another one鈥憇ize鈥慺its鈥慳ll government prog

Have you or your business, if you are a business owner, ever been the subject of any state or federal tax liens? 

Our business was previously subject to a tax lien; however, we have been actively and diligently working with the Internal Revenue Service and the appropriate state tax authorities to resolve this obligation through an established payment plan.
