Deborah Jackson Taffa, Jamie Figueroa to speak at Bookworks on March 19
AT BOOKWORKS IN ALBUQUERQUE
Two New Mexico writers will share the program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Bookworks.
Deborah Jackson Taffa talks about her new memoir, 鈥淲hiskey Tender,鈥 which has been described as 鈥渦nexpected and propulsive.鈥 Taffa is also a playwright and the director of the Master of Fine Arts creative writing program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe.
The other writer is Jamie Figueroa, who will chat about her nonfiction work, 鈥淢other Island: A Daughter Claims Puerto Rico.鈥 Figueroa鈥檚 book has been praised as a 鈥渄eeply felt investigation into home, lineage and selfhood.鈥 She lives in northern New Mexico.

Albuquerque鈥檚 David Ryan will discuss and sign copies of his new travel book 鈥淲andering in the Clear Light of New Mexico鈥 at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21.

AT TREASURE HOUSE IN ALBUQUERQUE
Treasure House Books & Gifts hosts several authors this week.
J.L. Greger of Bernalillo will read from and sign copies of 鈥淓scape from a Dark Cave,鈥 the latest in the author鈥檚 鈥淪cience Traveler鈥 mystery series, noon-3 p.m. Sunday, March 17. In the new installment, FBI scientific consultant Sara Almquist confronts the truth as she investigates the murder of a young man near an historic New Mexico cave.
From 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, Wendy Cohan will read from and autograph copies of 鈥淟ove Child,鈥 book two of her 鈥淚nn at Verde Springs鈥 romance trilogy. In book two, Paige Crawley meets Ed Barrett, who plays Renaissance music. One night of frolic leads to an unanticipated detour in her life.

AT COLLECTED WORKS IN SANTA FE
Jamie Figueroa will talk about her new book 鈥淢other Island: A Daughter Claims Puerto Rico鈥 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. She will be in conversation with b brown.
Cynthia Jurs discusses and signs her book 鈥淪ummoned by the Earth: Becoming a Holy Vessel for Healing Our World鈥 at 6 p.m. Friday, March 22. In 1990, Jurs carries a question to an old lama in a cave in the Himalayas. In response, the lama assigns her to procure earth treasure vases made of clay and potent medicines, fill them with prayers and symbolic offerings and bury them where healing is called for. So began a journey of a lifetime for Jurs, a Buddhist teacher.

AT SOMOS IN TAOS
Kristen Woolf and Janay Morgan Mallon will read from the recently-published writings of long-time Taos resident Bjorn Halvorsen.
The event will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at SOMOS, 108 Civic Plaza Drive, Taos.
