In full swing: The Ten Tenors to bring greatest hits tour to Popejoy Hall
The Ten Tenors will make a stop in Albuquerque at Popejoy Hall on Friday, March 1.
Cameron Barclay made it through opening night.
鈥淚 feel like we鈥檙e in full swing now,鈥 he says. 鈥淲e鈥檙e at a happy medium with the tour right now and it鈥檚 magnificent.鈥
Barclay is a member of The Ten Tenors.
The Australian music ensemble has toured the world, releasing 15 albums and four DVDs since its formation in 1995.
They have headlined more than 2,000 concerts around the world, sold more than 3.5 million concert tickets and become renowned for their dynamic, choreographed performances and skillful ability to seamlessly transition from operatic arias to soulful ballads through to chart-topping pop and rock songs.
Joining Barclay in the line up is Michael Edwards, Boyd Owen, Daniel Belle, Adrian Li Donni, Ammon Bennett, Ben Clark, Joseph Naim, Sam Ward and Jesse Layt.
The Ten Tenors is set to take the stage at Popejoy Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 1.
Australia's The Ten Tenors get ready for Popejoy performance
Over the course of its nearly 30-year career, the group has performed extensively in Australia, overseas and on television, and their signature brand of music featuring 10-part harmonies has been enjoyed by more than 90 million people.
They have also shared the stage with artists including Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Willie Nelson, Alanis Morissette and Christina Aguilera.
They have also appeared extensively on TV, including 鈥淭he Today Show,鈥 Oprah鈥檚 鈥淎ustralian Adventure鈥 and 鈥淓xtreme Makeover: Home Edition,鈥 as well as the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for an audience of 32 million viewers and the 2012 UEFA Cup in Warsaw, Poland.
Barclay was the first New Zealander to join the group more than 10 years ago.
鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 feel like time has gone by,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 always great to head out to tour in the 近距离内射合集 States. Everything is so different in America. The other night we ate at The Cheesecake Factory and I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. I think I got all of my calories for the week as the plate was bigger than me.鈥
The group has been on tour since October and completed tours in South America and Australia.
鈥淭he Australia shows were Christmas shows,鈥 he says. 鈥淒epending on what time of year it is, the tour is adjusted for that. The idea of the show in the states is a greatest hits show.鈥
A Ten Tenors performance runs about two hours filled with music and interaction with the audience.
鈥淲e sing about 26 numbers,鈥 he says. 鈥淚n terms of choosing the repertoire, that鈥檚 done by our managers. They build a show that flows well with plenty of ups and downs. There are hundreds of songs that we could choose from and it鈥檚 a complete balance. We鈥檙e getting the opportunity to do a disco mashup in this show. That鈥檚 always fun.鈥
