Albuquerque is getting animated this weekend.

鈥淭oonFusion is an animation-based pop culture convention. We have everything from video games to anime cartoons,鈥 Alecta Carter, administrative assistant at 3XC Events, said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e got people from the 鈥楽tar Wars Rebels鈥 series. It鈥檚 pretty diverse in terms of all things animation.鈥

The convention will be in Albuquerque for the first time Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, according to Carter, who hopes to have an impact on the con community and 鈥済ive an extra boost to the 鈥榥erds鈥欌 in New Mexico.

鈥淚 think there鈥檚 going to be a lot of really cool, interesting people coming out, lots of cool costumes,鈥 Carter said. 鈥淚鈥檝e heard great things about the cosplay community out here in New Mexico.鈥

The convention will feature over 20 voice actors in attendance, including those from 鈥淓d, Edd and Eddy,鈥 鈥淗azbin Hotel鈥 and 鈥淪tar Wars: The Clone Wars.鈥 The wide variety of shows is the reason people should attend the convention, Carter said.

鈥淵ou can come meet the voices behind some of your favorite characters and get signatures and merchandise from them,鈥 Carter said. 鈥淎nd you get very unique experiences and interactions when you come to a convention.鈥

Aside from voice actors, there are also various panels, video games, card games and a cosplay contest.

鈥淭his year we鈥檙e doing a (cosplay) showcase, so it鈥檚 not quite as intense as most traditional cosplay contests 鈥 This one鈥檚 more you come out, show off (and) have a good time,鈥 Carter said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e worked to build it, to have a lot more audience involvement, where the audience actually gets a say in how things will go in terms of winners.鈥

The contest takes place on Saturday with registration and prejudging in the early afternoon and the final contest later in the day.

鈥淲e hope to see all of Albuquerque and the surrounding area out at the show to have a good time,鈥 Carter said.
