Albuquerque poets Mary Oishi and Margaret Randall will read from and discuss their work at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16.

Books on the Bosque is located at 6261 Riverside Plaza Lane NW.

TALK AT LIBRARY

Albuquerque author Sherri Burr will discuss her books 鈥淐omplicated Lives鈥 and 鈥淟iving with Nephew鈥 at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Lomas Tramway Public Library.

Burr said her talk will encourage individuals to recall, interview, research and evaluate their family stories, stories they can turn from articles into books.

She will also illustrate how to dig for literary nuggets in archives and libraries and how to interview family members and others to place stories in a historical context.

Burr is the Dickason Chair and regents professor emerita of law at the University of New Mexico Law School.

The Lomas Tramway Library is located at 908 Eastridge Drive NE.

AT COLLECTED WORKS

Elizabeth Kendall will discuss her book 鈥淏alanchine Finds His America: A Tale of Love Lost and Ballet Reborn鈥 at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at the Santa Fe bookstore. The book is a dramatic narrative of the early unexamined years in George Balanchine鈥檚 life.

Balanchine is known as one of the most influential choreographers of the 20th century. Considered the father of American ballet, he co-founded the New York City Ballet and was its artistic director for more than 35 years.

Andrew Guthrie Ferguson will talk about his book 鈥淵our Data Will Be Used Against You鈥 at 6 p.m. Monday, May 11. Ferguson warns that the rise of sensory-driven technology, social media monitoring and artificial intelligence can be weaponized against democratic values and personal freedoms.

He will be in conversation with Christopher Moore, a professor at the Santa Fe Institute. Ferguson is a professor of law at George Washington Law School.

Scott Simon will chat about his book 鈥淯lysses S. Cat and Other Animals I Have Known鈥 at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14.

Simon is the host of NPR鈥檚 Weekend Edition Saturday. He will be in conversation with Santa Fe historian Hampton Sides. Their conversation will be moderated by Anne Goodwin Sides, former senior editor of Weekend Edition.

Collected Works is located at 202 Galisteo St. in Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe bookstore is hosting a free workshop by zine-maker Connor Boyle at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
