Alex Mayyasi and Alexi Horowitz-Ghazi to talk ‘Planet Money’ at the SBCC

AT SOUTH BROADWAY CULTURAL CENTER

Alex Mayyasi and Alexi Horowitz-Ghazi — contributors to the popular NPR podcast “Planet Money” — will talk about the new book “Planet Money: A Guide to the Economic Forces That Shape Your Life” at 6 p.m. Monday, April 20, at the South Broadway Cultural Center.

The event also includes an interactive audience Q-and-A.

Mayyasi and Horowitz-Ghazi will be joined by special guest Kyla Scanlon.

Single tickets for the event are $35, which includes a copy of the book, a donation to the Public Library Foundation and a custom tote bag; or $42 for two tickets and one book.

Tickets are available in advance at the Bookworks website, bkwrks.com.

The cultural center is located at 1025 Broadway Blvd. SE. The event is part of “A Word with Writers” series.

AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE

Four New Mexico authors — Mary Robinette Kowal, Marie Parks, Geoff Habiger and Dave Ring — will discuss their recent work at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Albuquerque bookstore.

AT COLLECTED WORKS

At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, noted New Mexico poets Maria Kelson and Margaret Randall will read from their work.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23, Douglas Preston and his daughter Aletheia will discuss their first literary collaboration “Paradox.”

Set in the Colorado wilderness, the thriller has lawmen Frankie Cash and Jim Colcord coming upon the body of a reclusive man in the Colorado wilderness.

“Paradox” is a follow-up to “Extinction,” a solo work by Doug Preston.

Collected Works is located at 202 Galisteo St. in Santa Fe.

AT GARCIA STREET BOOKS

The Santa Fe bookstore is hosting a discussion author Eric Zimmer will be having at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, with his friend and Zen master Henry Shukman. They’ll chat about Zimmer’s book “How A Little Becomes A Lot: The Art of Small Changes for a More Meaningful Life.”

Garcia Street Books is located at 376 Garcia St. in Santa Fe.

AT GERONIMO’S BOOKS

Tommy Archuleta, who was named Santa Fe poet laureate in 2024, and Bill Nevins, poet laureate of the Enchanted Circle of New Mexico, will read from their recent writing at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25.

Northern New Mexico poets Miriam Sagan and Kate O’Neill will present their work at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at SOMOS Salon, 108 Civic Plaza Drive, in Taos.
