Authors Kathleen A. Hessler, Octavio Ramos to discuss works at Page 1 Books
Books on the Bosque, Collected Works host additional author events
AT PAGE 1 BOOKS
Two authors will sign copies of their books from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at the Albuquerque bookstore.
One of the authors, Kathleen A. Hessler of Albuquerque, wrote 鈥淧romise Me, Daughter: A Nurse Attorney Navigates Her Mother鈥檚 Early-Onset Alzheimer鈥檚.鈥� Hessler鈥檚 memoir chronicles her 鈥渄ual journey as a nurse attorney and a daughter caring for her mother while representing long-term care facilities.鈥�
Hessler writes that her book offers insights into the emotional, medical and legal challenges faced while navigating the healthcare system.
The other author is Octavio Ramos, who wrote 鈥淐uentos Infernales,鈥� a compilation of horror stories based on old oral tales from the American Southwest, Latin America and Europe.

AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE
The Albuquerque bookstore is hosting three events this week.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, Jennifer K. Lambert of Santa Fe will discuss her book 鈥淎mong the Thorns.鈥� It is described as a fairy tale-inspired romantic fantasy involving two sorceresses and one Prince Charming. Who will win out?
At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, Paloma Angelina Lopez will present her children鈥檚 book 鈥淧opo the Xolo.鈥� The book is also published in Spanish.
It is 鈥渁n emotionally resonant, visually stirring picture book that explores life, death and celebrating loved ones for children navigating grief.鈥�
C.C. Jir贸n of Las Cruces will chat about her four books at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18. The books are 鈥淟ena DeVine: Over the Edge,鈥� consumed by grief and suspicion, Lena barrels down a dark, desolate highway fixated on avenging her twin sister鈥檚 death; 鈥淎 Waltz Across Time,鈥� in which a Santa Fe bookseller鈥檚 promise to a ghost drives her search for the heir to an ancient Spanish Bible; 鈥淣ick and Clancy: A Tale of Nine Lives,鈥� about a quirky sci-fi fan who hurries to live his dream before time runs out; and 鈥淪hamaness: The Silent Seer,鈥� in which a young girl, who doesn鈥檛 speak but is psychic, desperately warns her village of imminent disaster despite its intolerance and rejection.

AT COLLECTED WORKS
Maceo Carrillo Martinet will chat about his new book, 鈥淗ealing the Land Teaches Us Who We Are,鈥� at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Santa Fe bookstore.
The book invites readers to 鈥渞ediscover and reembody鈥� the truth that caring for ourselves and for the living Earth are one and the same.
Martinet lives in Albuquerque.
