Books on the Bosque to host author Dan Mueller

AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE

The Albuquerque bookstore is hosting a handful of author events this week.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, Barry Pearce will be in conversation with Dan Mueller about Pearce鈥檚 book 鈥淭he Plan of Chicago: A City in Stories.鈥

Dina Gilio-Whitaker will present her book 鈥淲ho Gets to be an Indian?鈥 at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. A member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, Gilio-Whitaker is a lecturer of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos.

Corina Dieters will sign copies of her book 鈥淢arred Mask鈥 and give a poetry workshop at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7. Her book is a single arc of poetry and prose that takes the reader on a single storyline through a journey of hurt to healing.

Twelve poets will be reading at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, from their work appearing in the new Dos Gatos Press collection 鈥淣otes of Light and Dark: Southwestern Aubades and Nocturnes.鈥

The poets are Stan Crawford, Marcial Delgado, Sheryl Guterl, Carlton Holte, Gayle Lauradunn, Bray McDonald, Bram McLihr, Jules Nyquist, Jennifer Pontzer, Sharon Rhutasel-Jones, John Roche and Janet Ruth.

Scott Wiggerman and David Meischen, editors of the collection, will emcee the event.

AUTHOR IN SANTA FE AND ALBUQUERQUE

Kirk Ellis will talk about his new book 鈥淭hey Kill People鈥 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Collected Works in Santa Fe and 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Bookworks.

The book is subtitled 鈥淏onnie and Clyde, A Hollywood Revolution, and America鈥檚 Obsession with Guns and Outlaws.鈥

鈥淭hey Kill People鈥 is about the making of the 1967 film 鈥淏onnie and Clyde鈥 and its sustained ability to shock and provoke today as it did when the film was first released.

The film is based on the criminals Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, who terrorized Depression-era Middle America, killing nearly a dozen lawmen before they were ambushed on a rural Louisiana road in 1934.

Ellis, who lives in Santa Fe, is a multiple Emmy-winning screenwriter of HBO鈥檚 鈥淛ohn Adams,鈥 the Apple TV+ limited series 鈥淔ranklin鈥 and 鈥淎nne Frank: The Whole Story.鈥

Tony Trujillo, a longtime Albuquerque business leader, author and retired executive, has released his new book 鈥淪ustainability to Scalability: For Your Small Business.鈥

The author states that it鈥檚 a practical guide with actionable strategies for achieving long-term, disciplined growth while maintaining organizational culture and operational excellence.
