Take it easy.

Rock band Foghat will be on a 鈥淪low Ride鈥 to Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder on Saturday, July 11.

While the band鈥檚 lineup has changed over the years, lead singer Scott Holt said the concerts remain high-energy. Roger Earl, the band鈥檚 drummer and co-founder, is the last of the original lineup, and Holt said he is the engine and the fireball of the group.

鈥淲e love playing together,鈥 Holt said, 鈥渁nd I think we make a pretty special sound together.鈥

He said the setlist will be a mix of new and familiar songs, with some deep cuts.

鈥淲e try to do a show that pleases all the Foghat fans, from the deep Foghat fan that鈥檚 wanting the album cuts, to the one that just knows 鈥楽low Ride,鈥欌 Holt said, 鈥渁nd then we were always ready to convert new fans on top of that.鈥

Holt has been involved with Foghat since 2014 and became lead singer in 2022. He has had a long career in music, playing with Buddy Guy for a decade. He said he grew up with music as a constant in his life, including listening to Foghat.

鈥淚 can remember going riding to school, listening to 鈥楽low Ride,鈥欌 Holt said. 鈥淪o it鈥檚 just been part of the fabric, so having an opportunity to be a part of the band and interact with the fans and realize what a tremendous legacy this is to be responsible for and to try to be a caretaker of.鈥

The best part of it all, he said, was that fans are still showing up. He said he looks out at the audience and sees generations of fans.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a really cool cross section of people that come to the show,鈥 Holt said.

鈥淥ne of my favorite things is watching the fans鈥 reaction when we start playing 鈥楽low Ride,鈥欌 Holt said. 鈥淲hen Roger hits that iconic drum intro 鈥 it gains an extra gear as far as the excitement of the crowd.鈥

He said he can鈥檛 believe he gets to do this for a living.

鈥淚鈥檝e had an amazing career. I鈥檓 so excited that I鈥檝e been able to do this,鈥 Holt said.

鈥淚 hope it goes on for another 30 or 40 years.鈥

Holt said he realizes the responsibility of carrying on the legacy of Dave Peverett and Rod Price, trying to be respectful of the past while keeping an eye on the future.

Holt said his relationship with Foghat鈥檚 music lets him contribute his own unique sound. The current iteration of Foghat isn鈥檛 a tribute band, he said, but rather a Foghat that continues to move forward.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important that you keep moving forward 鈥︹ Holt said. 鈥淚f you don鈥檛 grow, you die, and this band is far from dying.鈥
