At just 7 years old, Elliot Goldbogen has become quite the angler. He caught a smallmouth bass with a worm and released it shortly afterward at Rio Grande at Taos Junction Bridge.

Azaiah Medina, 4, from Albuquerque, had a fun day at Abiqui煤 Lake catching and releasing 20+ crappie and five bluegill. The day was action packed while making memories with his dad.

Bubba Olivas had a fun day fishing at Bonito Lake and caught four trout using nightcrawlers.

Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Tuesday morning was 29 cubic feet per second (cfs).

Fishing for smallmouth bass at Ute Lake was slow to fair using drop shot with wacky rigged robo worm.

The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Cabresto Lake, Charette Lake, Clayton Lake, Conchas Lake, Cowles Ponds, Coyote Creek, Eagle Rock Lake, Fawn Lakes, Gallinas River, Harris Pond, Hopewell Lake, Lake Alice, Los Pinos River, Maxwell Lake 13, Red River City Ponds, Rio Costilla, Rito la Presa, Santa Cruz Reservoir, Shuree Ponds, Springer Lake, Storrie Lake and Stubblefield Lake.

Northwest fishing report

Fishing was very good for walleye, crappie and bluegill using Z-Man Micro WormZ on a micro Ned Rig at Abiqui煤 Lake. Contact the Abiqui煤 Lake Main Office at 505-685-4371 for updated lake conditions and closure information.

Fishing for catfish at Albuquerque Area Drains was fair to good using hot dogs.

Streamflow on the Animas River below Aztec on Tuesday morning was 52.2 cfs. The most recent report for was received Aug. 6. At that time, fishing for trout was slow to fair using shrimp.

The most recent report for Cochiti Lake was received Aug. 20. At that time, fishing for white bass and catfish was good using live bait and worms.

Streamflow on the San Juan River near Archuleta on Tuesday morning was 985 cfs.

Fishing conditions at Bear Canyon Lake have been adversely affected in the aftermath of the Trout Fire.
