CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Nazharia, 2, reeled in a rainbow trout 鈥� her first catch ever 鈥� using a worm on the Pecos River on her Barbie fishing rod on July 2.

Lucas, 3, caught two brown trout in the bait section using his own rod drifting worms on the San Juan River on the bottom on July 6.

Rielly Pape caught a blue catfish on the Rio Grande using a Thomas EP-series spinner between Elephant Butte Lake and Caballo Lake on June 24.

Justin Holub caught three channel catfish using worms, and also caught some sunfish and largemouth bass using topwater lures downriver from Six Mile Dam on the Pecos River on June 29.

Northeast fishing report

Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Tuesday morning was 25.5 cfs.

Fishing for walleye at Conchas Lake was fair to good using green crankbaits.

Fishing for trout at Coyote Creek was good using Pistol Pete flies.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande below the Taos Junction Bridge on Tuesday morning was 174 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez on Tuesday morning was 8.57 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Tuesday morning was 2.75 cfs.

Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Pe帽asco on Tuesday morning was 3.82 cfs.

Northwest fishing report

Streamflow on the Animas River below Aztec on Wednesday morning was 25.4 cfs.

Fishing for northern pike at Navajo Lake was fair to good when using 8-inch grubs.

Streamflow on the Rio Chama below El Vado Lake on Tuesday morning was 103 cfs; streamflow below Abiqui煤 Lake on Tuesday morning was 254 cfs. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiqui煤 upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiqui煤 Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of only two trout.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande at Albuquerque on Wednesday morning was 0 cfs.

Streamflow on the San Juan River near Archuleta on Tuesday morning was 1,060 cfs. Fishing for brown trout in the bait section was very good drifting worms on the bottom and fair to good using Kastmasters. Fishing for rainbow trout in the quality waters was good using red annelid and foam-back emerger flies.

Fishing for trout at Seven Springs Kids Pond was very good using Garlic PowerBait.

The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Albuquerque Area Drains, Brazos River, Canjilon Lakes, Lake Farmington, Liam Knight Pond, McGaffey Lake, Rio Cebolla, Riverside Park Pond (Aztec Pond #1), San Gregorio Lake, Trout Lakes, Tiger Park Reservoir and Tingley Beach.

Southwest fishing report

Fishing conditions at Bear Canyon Lake have been adversely affected in the aftermath of the Trout Fire.

Fishing for largemouth bass at Bill Evans Lake was very good.

The most recent report for Caballo Lake was received June 25. At that time, fishing for white bass was good to fair using green and orange trolling lures. Walleye remained slow to inactive. Water levels are changing across the lake; boaters should exercise caution in low-water areas.

Fishing for largemouth bass at Elephant Butte Lake was fair to good using rubber crawdads. The South Monticello boat ramp is currently closed due to low water levels. Streamflow on the Gila River near Gila on Tuesday morning was 10.1 cfs.

Streamflow at the Gila Waters near Gila Hot Springs on Wednesday morning was 26.3 cfs.

Fishing for trout at Lake Roberts was fair to good using Pink PowerBait and salmon eggs. Fishing for catfish was fair to good using hot dogs.

Fishing for white bass at Percha Dam was slow using horse-head jigs.

Fishing for trout at Quemado Lake was slow using garlic worms.

Fishing for catfish on the Rio Grande was good using Thomas EP-series spinners. Streamflow below Elephant Butte Dam on Wednesday morning was 1,280 cfs.

The most recent report for Whitewater Creek was received June 25. At that time, fishing for Gila trout was fair to good using flies and produced 3-to-14-inch trout.

Fishing for catfish at Young Pond was good using hot dogs.

The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Escondida Lake, Glenwood Pond, Rancho Grande Ponds, Trees Lake and Snow Lake.

Southeast fishing report

The most recent report for Alto Lake was received June 25. At that time, fishing for trout was very good using Kastmasters and worms.

Streamflow on the Black River at Malaga on Tuesday morning was 52.6 cfs.

Fishing for trout at Bonito Lake was fair to good using worms, corn and gold spinners. Only fishing activities are permitted at Bonito Lake.

Fishing for catfish at Carlsbad Municipal Lake was fair to good using hot dogs.

Streamflow on the Pecos River below Sumner Lake on Tuesday morning was 108 cfs. Fishing for catfish was very good using worms.

Streamflow on the Rio Ruidoso at Hollywood on Wednesday morning was 4.40 cfs. Fishing conditions will be adversely affected for an extended period of time due to recent flooding in the area.

The most recent report for Sumner Lake was received July 2. At that time, fishing for white bass was good using blue-and-silver lures.
