APS to host annual State of the District
Superintendent will give keynote speech

Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Gabriella Dur谩n Blakey is set to deliver the district鈥檚 third annual State of the District address on Monday, Aug. 31.
Dur谩n Blakey鈥檚 keynote speech will focus on academic performance, new initiatives and long-term goals, officials said in a news release.
Ronalda Tome-Warito, president of the APS Board of Education, will also speak at the event, to be held at the Berna Facio Professional Development Complex, 3315 Louisiana NE. APS officials said in a news release that a recent graduate will deliver a 鈥渟pecial presentation鈥� on their student journey.
After the keynote speech, Dur谩n Blakey, along with Central New Mexico Community College President Tracy Hartzler and Kristopher Goodrich, dean of the University of New Mexico College of Education, will participate in a panel discussion on education moderated by Marisa Magallanez, president and CEO of the Albuquerque Community Foundation.
The event is intended as an 鈥渙pen progress report to the community,鈥� APS officials said in a news release. It will be livestreamed on the APS Board of Education鈥檚 .
