Whatever the Sandia Matadors disliked about their performance in Week 3, they purged it all in Week 4.

Senior quarterback Jahleel Lewis ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw for a third, and the Matadors throttled Albuquerque High鈥檚 offense throughout in a 46-0 victory in a District 1-6A opener at Wilson Stadium.

This was a long way from a double overtime thriller over rival Eldorado last week that didn鈥檛 exactly leave a pleasant taste in their mouths.

McCary took a reverse on the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, and the Hawks (4-0) were never threatened in a 50-0 mercy-rule shortened victory over Clovis at Nusenda Community Stadium on Friday night.

鈥淓very time we to get the ball, we know we have a chance to score,鈥� McCary said. 鈥淚 really want to capitalize on that. I really want to capitalize on that out here. We get the ball, we're running up our sideline. I knew it was good to set the tone, make a statement.鈥�

That was just the beginning. Five different Hawks scored in the first half, as 近距离内射合集 Vista cruised to a 44-0 advantage at halftime on homecoming night. Junior quarterback Jude Herrera accounted for 3 scores, including passes of 19 yards to McCary and 25 yards to Zion Ward. He also had a 10-yard touchdown run. The Hawks also got rushing TDs from Zach Soto and Jude Gonzales.

Las Cruces and Centennial were the two big winners Friday night as the District 2-6A portion of the schedule commenced this weekend. League play began for most of the state鈥檚 11-Man programs in Week 4.

The second-ranked Bulldawgs (4-0) went into Watson Memorial Stadium and absolutely throttled seventh-ranked Hobbs 41-0, while the fourth-ranked Hawks, playing at home at the Field of Dreams, won convincingly 35-7 over No. 5-ranked Carlsbad.

Las Cruces put together one of its best overall offensive performances of the season as it beat Hobbs (2-2).

Several of the Bulldawgs鈥� key offensive pieces enjoyed big nights, including receiver Diego Lopez, running back Jaxon Alba and quarterback Aldo Gallegos. University of New Mexico commit, linebacker Denton Walter, led the swarming effort on defense against the Eagles.

In Las Cruces, senior quarterback Ruiz Laborin threw for two touchdown passes and ran for a third in the first half, and the Centennial defense pitched a shutout.

Carlsbad鈥檚 only points came on a 50-yard pick-6 by UCLA commit Colton McKibben in the second quarter.

鈥�> Artesia 53, Deming 0

At Bulldog Bowl, Artesia (10-3) had little trouble with the Wildcats (1-3) in a District 2-5A opener.

Kai Greathouse scored three touchdowns for 5A鈥檚 fifth-ranked Bulldogs 鈥� two long passes, and also a kickoff return for a score.

Lucas Atkins tossed four TD passes in the victory, a game in which Artesia鈥檚 defense completely dominated Deming.

鈥�> Belen 47, Pojoaque Valley 6

In Belen, senior Haydn Bullington rushed for three touchdowns as the Eagles (4-0) swarmed the Elks (2-2).

Quarterback Gonzalo Cano rushed for a TD and threw for another. Ramon Martinez and Jeremiah Lord added rushing scores for Belen.

鈥�> Bernalillo 42, Taos 0

In Taos, the Spartans鈥� offense finally caught fire, with senior Ulisses Castro 鈥� back at tight end for Bernalillo after starting the season at quarterback 鈥� rushing for one touchdown and catching another in a District 1-4A triumph over the winless Tigers (0-4).

Bernalillo (2-2) had scored 42 combined points in its first three games.

Junior Riley Tafoya added a rushing TD and also scored on a punt return for the Spartans. He also recovered a fumble.

New QB Isaiah Jaramillo, a sophomore, three two touchdown passes.

鈥�> Los Lunas 50, Capital 0

In Los Lunas, the Tigers (2-2) only needed two quarters and a few minutes to take care of the Jaguars (0-4) in a District 1-5A opener.

Quarterback Luke Cieremans tossed three touchdown passes for Los Lunas, one apiece to Daniel Medina, Tayson Gaxiola and Alex Bachicha.

Brad Mallory added two short touchdown runs for the Tigers.

鈥�> Santa Fe 55, Highland 24

At Ivan Head Stadium in Santa Fe, Jesus Navarette rushed for nearly 200 yards on just a dozen carries, and scored twice as the Demons (2-2) handled the Hornets (2-2) in a District 1-5A opener.

鈥�> Silver 22, Moriarty 19

In Silver City, sophomore quarterback Kingston Lee scored on a 2-yard run with 3:22 remaining, and the fourth-ranked Colts (2-2) held off the second-ranked Fighting Pintos (3-1) in a District 2-3A opener.

Cody Cooper rushed for a pair of scores for Silver.

鈥�> Valley 53, Del Norte 0

At Milne Stadium, tailback Zach Perez rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns, and Class 4A鈥檚 ninth-ranked Vikings (2-2) blanked the Knights (0-4).

Quarterback Jeremiah Garcia threw three touchdown passes 鈥� to Ethan Brady, Gabriel Gonzales and Levi Paulus 鈥� and he rushed for a fourth score as Valley won this District 1-4A opener.

鈥�> Hope Christian 35, Ruidoso 20

In Ruidoso, the third-ranked Huskies (4-0) continued their hot start, downing the Warriors (0-4) in a District 2-3A opener.

Senior Darrien Williams caught one touchdown pass and rushed for another for Hope. Junior running back Kane Otero rushed for a pair of scores, and Jeremiah Roybal added a rushing TD.
