Driver killed in crash with Albuquerque officer on Isleta Pueblo

Albuquerque police said an officer was responding to 鈥渁 tactical activation鈥 on Thursday when they got into a crash with another vehicle on Isleta Pueblo 鈥 leaving the other driver dead.

Gilbert Gallegos, spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department, said in a Friday news release that the officer was responding to help officers arrest a person during an investigation Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred near N.M. 47 and Isleta Lakes Road, just north of Isleta Resort & Casino, Gallegos said.

"The driver of the other vehicle died from injuries sustained in the crash," Gallegos said. "The officer was not injured."

Authorities did not release additional details, including the identities of the officer or the other driver, or whether the officer's emergency lights and sirens were activated at the time of the crash.

New Mexico State Police is investigating.
