Forbes honors US Eagle, two other ABQ credit unions
Southwest Capital Bank in ABQ selected as one of 2026 best-in-state banks
Forbes recently released its 2026 list of America鈥檚 best-in-state banks and credit unions and several Albuquerque institutions made the cut.
According to a U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union news release, it is the seventh time the financial institution has been named a Best-in-State Credit Union.
鈥淭his honor underscores the importance of providing financial wellbeing to all members, and our 鈥榩eople mean more鈥 philosophy helps to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve,鈥 Michael Moore, U.S. Eagle CEO and president, said in a statement.
The rankings were created in partnership with market research firm Statista, which surveyed 26,000 U.S. residents. The firm asked them how satisfied they were and how likely they were to recommend the banks and credit unions where they had an account within the last few years, and those where someone they knew had an account, according to .
Participants were also asked to rate the banks and credit unions on factors such as trust, customer service, digital tools, quality of financial advice and whether fees were transparent and reasonable.
鈥淢oney is emotional for so many of us and when you have somebody you can trust and share your dreams and worries with, like our staff, you can really work on financial well-being and what is appropriate for you,鈥 U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union Chief Human Resources Officer Maggie Tannen said in a phone interview.
She added that if people don鈥檛 trust a financial adviser they鈥檙e working with, 鈥渋t鈥檚 hard to take that advice and to continue doing business with somebody.鈥
鈥淪o, I think trust is the bedrock of a good financial institution,鈥 Tannen said.
U.S. Eagle was one of 246 credit unions to be recognized. Other New Mexico companies selected were Kirtland Federal Credit Union and Sandia Area Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque and Santa Fe鈥檚 Del Norte Credit Union and Guadalupe Credit Union.
Along with credit unions, Forbes released a list of 227 Best-in-State Banks across the country. In New Mexico, Southwest Capital Bank of Albuquerque, First National Bank in Alamogordo and Pioneer Bank in Roswell made the cut.
