Inmates discover human remains during roadside cleanup on Laguna Pueblo

Inmates discovered human remains while cleaning up a roadside within the Laguna Pueblo on Tuesday.
The six-member crew 鈥 comprised of minimum-security inmates from the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Los Lunas 鈥 found the remains along westbound Interstate 40 near Casa Blanca in Cibola County, within the Laguna Pueblo, according to Brittany Roembach, spokesperson for the New Mexico Corrections Department.
鈥淭he Corrections Department provided behavioral health support to crew members and staff following the discovery,鈥 Roembach said.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is leading the investigation and all inmates involved in the discovery have been interviewed, she said.
