Man accused of killing driver in road rage shooting in Northwest Albuquerque

A man said he was 鈥渂eing followed鈥� and feared for his life when he allegedly shot another man to death in the West Side on Friday.
Victor Rivera-Jimenez, 35, of Albuquerque is charged with an open count of murder, shooting at or from a vehicle and two counts of child abandonment, no death or great bodily harm.
Rivera-Jimenez was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Sunday morning. His criminal complaint has been sealed, according to court records.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, the Albuquerque Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Unser between Ladera and Tierra Pintada NW.
When they arrived, they found a man 鈥� later identified as 30-year-old Corsinio Martinez 鈥� dead inside a crashed vehicle, APD spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said in a news release on Saturday morning.
Witnesses told police they saw and heard three gunshots fired from a black pickup before a gray car 鈥� driven by Martinez 鈥� crashed into a light pole, north of Tierra Pintada, Gallegos said on Sunday.
APD鈥檚 Real Time Crime Center used automated license plate readers to identify the truck, which belonged to Rivera-Jimenez, Gallegos said.
Police said they later saw Rivera-Jimenez on video surveillance arrive and leave a restaurant with a woman and two children.
鈥淒etectives determined the woman and children were in the truck at the time of the shooting,鈥� Gallegos said.
Rivera-Jimenez was arrested late Saturday at his Southwest Albuquerque home, then 鈥渃onfessed to the shooting, alleging he was being followed and was in fear for his life,鈥� Gallegos said.
