Person fatally shot by Santa Fe deputy
Law enforcement officer was uninjured in incident

At least one Santa Fe County deputy fatally shot a person early Saturday in a neighborhood just east of the Santa Fe Country Club.
New Mexico State Police, which is investigating the incident, said there 鈥渋s no threat to the public.鈥� The agency asked people to avoid the area around Entrada de Milagro, a street on the south side of Santa Fe that is sandwiched between apartment complexes and residential neighborhoods.
State Police did not say what led to the shooting, how many deputies were involved, or the identity of the person killed. A State Police spokesperson could not be reached Saturday.
鈥淭he Deputy is okay, and the suspect is deceased,鈥� State Police said in a post on X. 鈥淢ore details will be provided as they become available.鈥�
In a Facebook post, the Santa Fe County Sheriff鈥檚 Office said around 3:51 a.m. a deputy 鈥渨as involved in an incident that led to an officer involved shooting.鈥� The post said the shooting happened along Paseo del Sol, between Avenida Contenta and Avenida Chamisa, which is one block east of Entrada de Milagro.
The post did not elaborate on the 鈥渋ncident鈥� or provide any more details. A spokesperson for the sheriff鈥檚 office did not respond to multiple calls for comment.
鈥淭his is an active scene and the investigation is ongoing,鈥� according to the post.
