Police: Man dies while in custody in SE ABQ
APD did not release man's identity, details limited
A multiagency task force is investigating the death of a man, who Albuquerque police said died while he was in their custody on Sunday morning.
Police did not release the man鈥檚 identity.
Shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 400 block of Tennessee SE, near Trumbull and Zuni. When they arrived, a man had been 鈥渦nconscious, but breathing,鈥 Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said.
After officers arrived, he said the man 鈥渟topped breathing.鈥
鈥淎ttempts to revive the man were not successful and emergency personnel determined he was deceased,鈥 Gallegos said. 鈥淪ince he was in the custody of police at the time he died, the Multi-Agency Task Force responded to start an investigation.鈥
Details are limited, but Gallegos said the man was a suspect in a domestic violence incident.
鈥淭he investigation is ongoing,鈥 he said.
