Santa Fe's 505 Night Market debuts this summer
A new family friendly evening marketplace celebrating local food, art and music launches in Santa Fe this July, with more than 80 vendors already signed on.
A new open-air community event will debut in Santa Fe this summer with the launch of the 505 Night Market, a family friendly evening marketplace celebrating local food, art and music.
Inspired by night markets around the world, the 505 Night Market will feature street food vendors, local makers, artists and live entertainment. Organizers say the event aims to showcase New Mexico's diverse small-business community while creating a vibrant gathering place for residents and visitors.
The market will launch with a kickoff party from 5 to 9 p.m. July 18 at The Kitchen Table Santa Fe. Its inaugural flagship market will follow from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Santa Fe Railyard.
Both events are free and open to the public.
More than 80 vendors have signed on since applications opened, organizers said.
The project was founded by Rachel Lee, founder of Artisans of Nations, and Lorraine Chow, owner of Green Chile Crisp and stewardship and outreach manager for the Santa Fe Watershed Association.
The pair said they drew inspiration from their Chinese American heritage and Santa Fe's creative and culinary communities.
"My vision and hope is to support local entrepreneurs and the community through these Night Market events. Santa Fe's diverse, multiethnic community and strong local economy are the perfect ingredients for the night market model to last for years to come while making a positive impact," Lee said in a news release.
The market is supported in part by the city of Santa Fe's Office of Economic Development and partners with The Kitchen Table Santa Fe and ArtWalk Santa Fe.
Organizers continue to seek food vendors, artisans, makers and entertainers representing a wide range of cultural and culinary traditions.
