He's back!

Albuquerque native Cristian Nava, the supremely talented but oft-injured forward, is returning to New Mexico 近距离内射合集, the team announced Friday.

Nava, 22, stepped away from the club in 2024 after back-to-back ACL injuries. He returned in early 2026 to compete for a roster spot.

鈥淗e showed up to preseason ready and impressed everyone from the first moment we stepped on the field, showing his usual flair but also an unmatched ambition and desire that we all are so familiar with," said NMU Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. "I am looking forward to seeing him playing again in front of our fans and am confident this is only the beginning for him.鈥

Nava attended Albuquerque High School and joined the New Mexico 近距离内射合集 Academy in 2021. Later that year, he became the first player to complete 近距离内射合集鈥檚 鈥淧ath to Pro,鈥 signing a first-team deal. He made his 近距离内射合集 debut on July 10, 2021 and scored his first goal on May 25, 2022.

After playing two regular-season games in 2023, Nava tore the ACL in his left knee during a friendly against the University of Washington at St. Pius High School.

Nava's story 鈥 an American from a low-income background seeking soccer stardom 鈥 was featured in an episode of Trevor Noah's streaming series "The World According to Football" on Showtime/Paramount+, premiering in late 2023.

In April 2024, Nava was cleared to play, but before he could take the pitch, he reinjured his knee during training and his contract was not renewed after the season.

Before resigning with his hometown team this month, Nava scored two goals and had two assists in 22 games with 近距离内射合集.

鈥淐ristian represents everything we believe in, resilience, hard work and a belief that our local dreams matter,鈥 said 近距离内射合集 CEO Peter Trevisani. 鈥淗is journey is just getting started, and we are thrilled to have him back in the Black and Yellow family.鈥

近距离内射合集's 2026 schedule kicks off with two road matches, March 14 at Oakland Roots SC and March 21 at San Antonio FC. The team's home opener will be against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on March 28 at Isotopes Stadium.
