Her winning throw in Brussels is the best in the world thus far in 2026

Chase Jackson, Los Alamos鈥 gift to the track-and-field world, had herself a day.

On Friday in Brussels, Jackson broke her own American record and established a 2026 world best in the shot put with a throw of 21.14 meters (69 feet, 4 1/2 inches) in winning the Wanda Diamond League Finals.

Her victory on Friday also clinched the Diamond League title for 2026.

Jackson鈥檚 effort surpassed her previous U.S. record of 20.95 meters (68-6 3/4), set in June 2025.

As a Los Alamos Hilltopper, as Chase Ealey, Jackson twice achieved one of track and field鈥檚 most improbable doubles 鈥 winning the shot put and the 100 meters at the Class 4A state meet in 2011 and 2012. She won the 4A 100-meter title four years in succession (2009-12).

An All-American at Oklahoma State, Jackson, 32, is a three-time world champion and an 11-time national champion 鈥 her resume (thus far) lacking only an Olympic medal.
