The Lobos have dipped into Southern California for their next quarterback.

Three-star quarterback Bradley Cassier has committed to New Mexico, he announced Friday via social media.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound junior at Santa Monica Preparatory chose the Lobos over additional offers from Arizona State, UNLV, Washington State, Colorado State and Boston College. He received an offer from UNM in early March before taking an official visit in April.

Cassier is the second three-star prospect to commit to UNM out of the class of 2027. The Lobos previously received a pledge from Tayven Collins, a three-star safety from Pullayup, Washington, in January.

As a junior with the Mariners, Cassier completed 178 of 278 passes (64%) for 2,842 yards and 30 touchdowns with four interceptions. The self-described pass-first quarterback also rushed for 391 yards and four touchdowns to help lead Santa Monica to a 10-2 record and a playoff berth out of the Camino Real League.

Cassier notably passed for a season-high 537 yards and six touchdowns in a 55-21 win over Franklin (Calif.) High School in October. He is rated as 24/7 Sports鈥� 69th-best prep quarterback in California and the 108th-best overall prospect in the state.

Cassier said he first met UNM鈥檚 current staff as a freshman, when they were recruiting current Lobo safety Joshua Barnes to Idaho. Drawn to their success with the Vandals, he added that interest quickly became a 鈥渢wo-way thing鈥� as head coach Jason Eck and offensive coordinator Luke Schleusner moved over to UNM.

鈥淲e really jelled,鈥� he said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e obviously a winning staff and they build a great culture, so I just wanted to be a part of that.鈥�

Throughout the recruitment process, Cassier said UNM rose to the top as 鈥渁bsolutely鈥� the most honest and straightforward of any program he鈥檚 been in contact with.

鈥淭here hasn鈥檛 been a time where I鈥檓 like, 鈥極h, well that doesn鈥檛 really line up with what he said,鈥欌�� he added. 鈥淎nd I feel like you can just kind of get (that) vibe when you talk to them in-person. Especially with coach Eck 鈥� I feel like everyone says right away that he鈥檚 a great guy, and you can kind of tell right away.鈥�

Cassier was the first of two commitments UNM received Friday. Cornerback Bryson Fleming committed to UNM after visiting the Lobos during spring practice.

A 6-0, 195-pound junior, Fleming made 45 total tackles last season at North Forney (Texas) High School. He chose UNM over offers from Pittsburgh, San Diego State, Tulane, Memphis, North Texas, Sacramento State and Texas State.

Fleming has a twin brother, Braydon, who also visited UNM this spring. A 6-0, 185-pound junior receiver, he has not committed to a school yet. Braydon caught 10 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns last season with North Forney.
