Monday was Major League Baseball鈥檚 trade deadline. and the Colorado Rockies were sellers.

For the big-league team, that generally means sending out good, current major-league level players and replacing them, again generally speaking, with still developing minor-league players.

And for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes, what Monday鈥檚 trade deadline means is star players like Charlie Condin and Zac Veen are still in the organization, although they could be heading to replenish the Rockies roster soon.

It also means the Isotopes will likely be getting some new names/faces as soon during as this week鈥檚 six-game homestand against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. At least three 鈥� RHP Mason Adams, LHP Mark Manfredi and INF Connor Norby 鈥� have already been assigned to report to the Isotopes this week.

And while he鈥檚 not yet on a homecoming trip to Albuquerque, Sandia High graduate Aiden May, a 23-year-old right handed pitcher who was drafted out of Oregon State in 2024, was acquired by the Rockies in a trade with the Miami Marlins and could be an @Isotope in the next couple of years if his minor-league progression continues. He was ranked as Miami鈥檚 No. 27 minor-league prospect.

A quick bullet-point breakdown of six Rockies minor leaguers added in the past two days of trades:

• RHP Mason Adams, 26, Charlotte Knights (AAA) 鈥� Adams immediately moves into the No. 19 spot on MLB Pipeline's list of top Rockies prospects and was ranked as the Chicago White Sox No. 8 prospect. The righty had Tommy John surgery and missed all of 2025. At three minor-league levels this season, he's pitched 49 innings with 48 strikeouts and 19 walks.

• LHP Mark Manfredi, Nashville Sounds (AAA) 鈥� Was assigned to report to the Isotopes on Monday after being traded from the Brewers organization.

• SS Juan Martinez, 19, Arizona Complex League Brewers (Rookie) 鈥� Martinez has been assigned to Single-A Fresno Grizzlies.

• RHP Aiden May, 23, Beloit Sky Carp (High-A) 鈥� The Sandia High graduate was assigned on Monday to report to the Rockies鈥� High-A affiliate Spokane Indians. He has a 3.80 ERA over 68.2 innings pitched this season in single-A action.

• INF Connor Norby, 26, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (AAA) 鈥� Norby has played 65 games this season with the Miami Marlins and 23 games with Triple-A Jacksonville. On Monday, he was assigned to the Isotopes.

• INF Carlos Vielma, 16 (yes, 16), Dominican Summer League (Rookie league) 鈥� The long-term teenage prospect from Venezuela could be a gem ... way down the road. He was given a $1.5 million international signing bonus in January, but you鈥檙e not seeing him in a Rockies uniform, or even an Isotopes one, for quite a while.

Looking ahead

With seven weeks/42 games still left in this season, the Isotopes on Monday unveiled their plans for next year. It will be the franchise鈥檚 25th year at the park and 24th season played (thanks a lot, COVID!).

The 2027 Isotopes season will open on a Friday, March 26, against Sacramento 鈥� the earliest regular-season game in team history.

Holiday games the team has as part of its 75-game home slate include Easter, Cinco de Mayo, Mother鈥檚 Day, Juneteenth, Father鈥檚 Day and 4th of July.

Game promotions aren't yet available, but season tickets can be purchased at (505) 924-2255.

Promotions and other special events will be announced during the off-season. The universal off-day across all of Minor League Baseball will remain on Monday.

Know the foe

The Isotopes will play a six-game Pacific Coast League home series against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys Tuesday through Sunday.

• Sugar Land Space Cowboys, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, 57-50 overall (4th), 25-8 2nd half (1st)

Last week in this space, I wrote about Isotopes slugger OF/1B Charlie Condon leading the PCL in first-pitch home runs and OF Zac Veen, his hot-hitting teammate in second. Both added to that stat this past week with first-pitch homers at El Paso.

Usually this section is called three up, three down with three good stats or trends, three bad ones. Well, after a record-setting six-game sweep in El Paso, why dig for the bad? Here are SIX 鈥渓ooking good鈥� items for the Topes.

Looking good:

• OF Zac Veen was named the PCL Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .448 (13-for-29) in six games at El Paso, including four home runs, a triple, four doubles and 14 RBIs. Veen was also the PCL Player of the Month in June.

• The Isotopes went 18-6 against El Paso this season, tying the franchise record for most wins against one team in a season. The other 18-win season? How about 2023 when they went 18-6, also against El Paso.

• Albuquerque鈥檚 19 home runs last week are the new franchise record for homers in a single series, breaking the previous mark of 18 vs. Las Vegas in a six-game set in 2022.

Also looking good!

• Isotopes mascot Orbit won the Readers Choice award for best local mascot! (The Readers Choice awards special section was published in Sunday's Journal).

• With a 55-53 record, the Isotopes are above .500 on the latest date on the calendar since at least Aug. 5, 2017 when the team was 57-56.

• Albuquerque鈥檚 sweep of El Paso was just the second six-game sweep in the PCL this season. The other was also a road sweep when Las Vegas swept Tacoma in May.
