Donation drives

The city of Albuquerque is hosting two donation drives this month that will benefit different groups around the city.

First, the Office of Black Community Engagement is hosting a drive to collect feminine hygiene products. They are looking for pads, pantyliners, personal wipes and other feminine hygiene products. Donations can be dropped off all month at the Office of Equity & Inclusion on the fourth floor of City Hall, 1 Civic Plaza NW, or you can do a curbside drop-off at City Hall鈥檚 loading zone by first calling 505-768-3491.

And the Department of Senior Affairs is collecting donations of new items to share with older adults this holiday season. Items in need include protein drinks, underwear for incontinence, scarves, hats and socks along with cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, manicure and grooming sets and facial tissue and toilet paper. Donations will be accepted until Nov. 27 and can be dropped off at any of the city鈥檚 senior or multigenerational centers. Thankful for volunteers

Albuquerque鈥檚 Office of Civic Engagement is looking for volunteers to serve meals to families in need and the homeless on Thanksgiving, on Nov. 28, at three shelters: Gateway West, 7440 Jim McDowell NW, and the Family Gateway Center and Gateway Center, both at 5400 Gibson SE. Meals at the Gateway West will be from 3-7 p.m. Meals at the Family Gateway and Gateway centers will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up by visiting .

UNM students organize benefit concert

Students at the University of New Mexico associated with the American Choral Directors Association 鈥� a student-chartered nonprofit 鈥� are organizing a holiday benefit concert. No admission fees will be charged, but attendees will be asked to donate to one of the group鈥檚 three selected charities as their ticket price: KOAT-TV鈥檚 Koats for Kids, Roadrunner Food Bank, or the Carlisle Center for the Arts. Attendees will be able to donate the night of the concert via QR codes at the venue. The concert will feature musicians from the UNM music department, including choirs, wind and brass ensembles, piano, harp, cello, flute and other soloists and will take place at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle SE, on Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
