Dead Rabbitts may have some sweet sounds, but the metalcore band is anything but soft like a rabbit.
The band is ready to rock Launchpad at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, with songs from their latest album, 鈥淩edefined.鈥�
Created by and named after lead singer Craig Mabbitt 鈥� who was often called 鈥淩abbit鈥� due to the closeness in the name 鈥� the band focuses on metal of all kinds, from metalcore that blends punk rock music with aggressive breakdowns and riffs, classic metal rock sounds and post-hardcore metal, which highlights softer symphonies and more melodic styles.
鈥淲e live in a day and age where if you ask someone to play their playlist, it would be all over the place,鈥� Mabbitt said. 鈥淚 always tell people, there鈥檚 two genres of music. Stuff you like and stuff you don鈥檛 like. The genre of Dead Rabbitts is whatever you want to call it.鈥�
As the band continues to craft its sounds, its album shows the shifts and transitions as the band experiments with what makes them Dead Rabbitts.
鈥淭he music gets pretty heavy this record, but we probably have one of the softer songs that I鈥檝e done with Dead Rabbitts,鈥� Mabbitt said. 鈥淎s far as the vocals go, the music still gets a little heavy here and there.鈥�
To kick off the tour and promotion of their new album, the band recently unveiled a new single 鈥淗ellscape鈥� featuring Wednesday 13 and Stitched Up Heart.
As the bands were finalizing their record together, Mabbitt thought it would be a good opportunity for everyone to tour together, especially since 鈥淗ellscape鈥� came out the first day of the tour. Wednesday 13 and Stitched Up Heart, joined by I Ya Toyah, will accompany Dead Rabbitts on the road as they tour through America.
鈥淵ou might have some people that are coming to the tour specifically to see Stitched Up Heart and specifically to see Wednesday 13 or specifically to see Dead Rabbitts,鈥� Mabbitt said. 鈥淪o I think it鈥檚 a way to kind of bring those fans together and be excited about something new pertaining to the tour.鈥�
The band鈥檚 newest album, 鈥淩edefined,鈥� does exactly what the title would suggest, Mabbitt said. The Dead Rabbitts question what they want the band to represent and what its sound means to others. Songs like 鈥淭/R/A/P/P/E/D鈥� show a softer side to the band鈥檚 sounds, while other tunes like 鈥淢eat HOOK鈥� balance melodic sounds with edgy, heavy sections in the song.
鈥淣ow we鈥檙e going full force with it, hitting the road on a full tour, doing the album, finally introducing this visual aspect to the group that I鈥檝e had since its inception with these rabbit masks,鈥� Mabbitt said. 鈥淚鈥檓 just trying to create this lore and this look and this other version of me with this group.鈥�
