Levitation Room brings its unique sound to Launchpad

Formed nearly a decade ago in East Los Angeles, Levitation Room focuses on what they consider 鈥渙therworldly鈥� rock music that is steeped in a dreamy, 鈥�60s atmosphere.
Levitation Room, a four-man band consisting of vocalist Julian Forte, lead guitar player Gabriel Fernandez, bass player Kevin Perez and drummer Johnathan Martin, will perform their self-produced eclectic sounds at Albuquerque鈥檚 Launchpad at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30. Ignacio Gonzalez will be filling in as drummer for the remainder of the tour.
鈥淟evitation Room started as a small idea between Julian and I,鈥� said Fernandez. 鈥淲e really didn鈥檛 think it鈥檇 be going this long, so it鈥檚 been a beautiful thing, seeing the phases we鈥檝e gone through and just having an idea, daydreaming with guitars, having a full band, and now getting to explore the country.鈥�
The band is currently touring their latest album 鈥淪trange Weather鈥� across the country, exploring places like New York and Georgia before making a stop in Albuquerque, where they have performed before. At Launchpad, Levitation Room will play with support from Mexico City garage rock band Los Blenders.
Since going on tour, Levitation Room has performed in two sold out shows and noticed a significant uptick in fans.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 really exciting to see us get to a place 鈥� and we鈥檙e hearing like, oh, the show sold out already,鈥� Perez said. 鈥淚t makes us really excited to switch up the set and challenge ourselves as individuals.鈥�
The band is excited to unveil its latest album, but classic 2015 Levitation Room songs like the beachy alternative 鈥淔irebird Lane鈥� and the psychedelic 鈥淰isions of My Mind鈥� will also make an appearance on the tour playlist.
Adding to the set list is Levitation Room鈥檚 first official EP, which was released on vinyl in celebration of Record Store Day. The band said seeing their record available in stores has been a cause of immense joy.
Each band member contributes to songwriting, and the band emphasizes each member鈥檚 unique personality, allowing everyone to shine on and off the stage.
鈥淲e derive inspiration from just experiencing life, and I think collectively, we all share some of the same political views, so we try our best to express our values and way we see the world,鈥� Forte said. 鈥淓verything from love and heartbreak to being able to discern right from wrong and truth and deception.鈥�
It鈥檚 hard for the band to describe its sound 鈥� Levitation Room enjoys blending its passions and genre interests. The band has an eclectic 鈥�60s influence that can be felt in its music.
For now, Levitation Room wants fans to know they鈥檙e ready to share their music and sounds with the world, one dreamy lo-fi song at a time.
