Like the wind
The University of New Mexico Wind Symphony is bringing 鈥淔olk Songs and Dances鈥 to Popejoy Hall at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17. The program will include 鈥淰ariants on a Medieval Tune,鈥 鈥淟incolnshire Posy鈥 and the finale from 鈥淓stancia.鈥 Tickets are $11.50-$16.50 at .
Building roots
The community celebration 鈥淕athering Seeds, Tending Roots鈥 is coming to Museum Hill in Santa Fe from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. The event features performances from The Zuni Olla Maidens and Felix y Los Gatos, demonstrations, free access to the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and the Museum of International Folk Art and more. Milner Plaza on Museum Hill is at 706 Camino Lejo in Santa Fe. Admission is free with advance RSVP at .
Musical garden
The music of Nosotros is coming to the Santa Fe Botanical Garden at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17. Tickets are $8-$25, at , free for with children 3 and under. The botanical garden is at 715 Camino Lejo in Santa Fe.
Ode to a tree
The Open Space Visitor Center is hosting a Kid鈥檚 Nature Poetry event from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. Eventgoers can get inspired by nature and learn more about writing poetry. The Open Space Visitor Center is at 6500 Coors Blvd. NW.
Immersed in nature
Conservation Carnivale mobile circus is bringing 鈥淏ack to the Bosque鈥 to the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. The event will teach environmental education through immersive and theatrical arts. The Rio Grande Merfolk will also be on hand before the performance with an arcade of nature-themed carnival games. Tickets are $5-$20 at ; free for children 2 and under. The botanic garden is at 2601 Central Ave. NW.
Albuquerque鈥檚 got the blues
It鈥檚 Blues Night on Civic Plaza at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, with music from Shemekia Copeland, The Pleasure Pilots and Russ Green. The free event is part of the 19th annual New Mexico Jazz Festival. Civic Plaza is at 1 Civic Plaza NW.
Doggone good
Oliver Prezant and his band are bringing 鈥淕ood Dogs: The Stage Show鈥 to the Albuquerque Museum at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18. The concert is a night of original songs and poetry inspired by canine companions. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of their dogs, but to leave any nonservice pets at home. The Albuquerque Museum is at 2000 Mountain Road NW.
