On the same level: Las Vegas-based The Clairvoyants bring holiday show to Isleta Resort
The Clairvoyants will make a stop at Isleta Resort & Casino on Friday, Dec. 22.
Am茅lie van Tass and Thommy Ten often know what each other is thinking.
This is in part to working and living together for more than a decade.
The pair are known as The Clairvoyants, and have taken their show to the Las Vegas Strip.
鈥淲e started our tour with our new show recently,鈥� Ten says. 鈥淪o far, it鈥檚 going amazing and we can鈥檛 wait to come to New Mexico.鈥�
The Clairvoyants bring their holiday show to the Showroom at Isleta Resort & Casino at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22.
Van Tass says the duo have been working the last two months on the traveling show.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a constant process of challenging ourselves,鈥� she says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been an intense few months, but it鈥檚 all worth it because we get to do what we love on stage.鈥�
In 2016, the duo became a household name after their appearance on Season 11 of 鈥淎merica鈥檚 Got Talent,鈥� wowing judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel with their mind reading abilities. After eight different performances, they got second place.
When they met in 2011, they began to develop their 鈥渟econd sight鈥� act, and two months later brought it on stage for the first time.
Within a year they had developed a full-length show. Shortly thereafter, they started touring Europe.
Ten always wants to bring a little bit of Las Vegas to the audience.
The new show will also feature the couple鈥檚 dog 鈥� Mr. Koni Hundini.
鈥淲e always try to do our own material and make it unique,鈥� Ten says. 鈥淓specially with two people and a dog on stage. There are a lot of ways that it could go wrong.鈥�
The couple have built a 90-minute show.
Van Tass says the couple鈥檚 connection has only gotten stronger over the years.
The pair got engaged in 2019 and then married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas in 2022.
鈥淭here are times when we are on stage that all we have to do is give each other a look and we know exactly what we need to do,鈥� van Tass says.
Ten knows the importance of having the audience engage with the show.
鈥淲e need an audience for what we do,鈥� he says. 鈥淓very night is different for us because the audience changes. It鈥檚 like we have to start from scratch each day because the reactions will always be different. That鈥檚 the challenge that keeps us pushing forward. We wouldn鈥檛 be doing this if it were easy.鈥�
The Clairvoyants have collected many awards worldwide over the course of their career.
In 2015, Van Tass and Ten were enthusiastically chosen as the 鈥淲orld Champions of Mentalism,鈥� a prize that hasn鈥檛 been awarded in 30 years.
In 2020, they received 鈥淟es Mandrakes d鈥橭r鈥� award in Paris, France.
The pair filmed a TV special at the Vienna Opera House in 2021 and also performed 500 shows as part of the cast for 鈥淎merica鈥檚 Got Talent Las Vegas LIVE at the Luxor Hotel & Casino,鈥� from 2021-2022.
In 2022, The Clairvoyants performed on season eight of The CW鈥檚 鈥淢asters of Illusion.鈥�
Most recently, the mentalism duo appeared on 鈥淏ritain鈥檚 Got Talent鈥� in December 2022.
