68th annual Mother’s Day Whitewater Races set for May 8-10

The Adobe Whitewater Club is hosting the 68th annual Mother’s Day Whitewater Races  from Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 10.

The event starts Friday evening with a meet-up and camping at Rio Bravo Campground. Camping spots are first-come, first-served. 

River events will take place on Saturday and include beginner and intermediate levels for rafts, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, starting at 10 a.m. At noon, an Olympic-style slalom course will begin for kayak, canoe and SUP racing. Then, at 3 p.m., participants can take part in the kayak rodeo. Finally, at 5 p.m., four- and six-person raft races will take place, followed by a cookout hosted by New Mexico River Adventures. 

On Sunday, from 10 a.m. to noon, New Mexico River Adventures will host a gear swap. 

Registration is $30 for individuals to $80 for four- and six-person raft teams, with an additional $10 per participant event insurance fee. Participants will receive an event T-shirt while supplies last.
