At this particular prom, you won鈥檛 find potential partners standing shyly on opposite ends of the room.

When it came to Ex Novo Brewing鈥檚 Beer Prom, there were no issues finding matches for all the participating breweries.

And, it鈥檚 worth a visit to Ex Novo鈥檚 Instagram page to see its 鈥減romposal鈥 to Second Street Brewery, humorous (intentional) typo and all.

鈥淲e have 16 breweries, including us 鈥 so it was a perfect split,鈥 Sarah Turner, Ex Novo creative director, said. 鈥淲hen I first sent out the invite to everybody, I said, 鈥榊ou can go ahead and ask each other. I know there鈥檚 some butterflies and some nerves.鈥

鈥淚f anyone was left without a partner, (we) would be happy to match anyone. And actually, everyone matched up themselves. So yeah, no draft this year.鈥

The 鈥渄raft鈥 to which Turner refers occurred during Ex Novo鈥檚 近距离内射合集 in Beer Festival, an event where two breweries were randomly paired up to create a special beer. Beer Prom follows the same format while implementing a fun new theme. Turner picked up the idea after hearing about a similar event held by the Washington Brewer鈥檚 Guild.

This year, the Beer Prom takes place from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Corral, Ex Novo鈥檚 outdoor patio and beer garden in Corrales. The participating breweries will team up to produce eight unique beers to be unveiled at the event. Ex Novo and Second Street, for example, are collaborating on an English-style summer ale.

Those who purchase a ticket will get eight drink tokens to sample each creation, as well as a commemorative Beer Prom glass. Previous iterations of the festival have sold out, and this year鈥檚 version is capped at 300 attendees. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Cuidando Los Ni帽os, a nonprofit organization that 鈥渆mpowers children and families experiencing housing instability through education, advocacy, and individualized supportive services.鈥

鈥淲e鈥檙e going to stay rooted in Albuquerque. Beer prom is supposed to be like this fun, nostalgic night, but not everyone gets to have those carefree experiences,鈥 Turner said. 鈥淚t just felt like a good fit trying to do something with kiddos and with school and with prom stuff.鈥

The evening鈥檚 theme extends beyond the beer. Prom attire is encouraged, and there will also be a dance floor, DJ and plenty of photo-ops 鈥 just like the school dances of years gone by. The event isn鈥檛 a competition, but there will be fun superlatives at the end of the night, including beers that are selected as prom king and queen. There are also some attractions one isn鈥檛 likely to find at a typical prom, such as beer pong and a s鈥檓ores bar.

鈥淚鈥檓 most excited about people鈥檚 outfits and to see what their creativity is going to bring,鈥 Turner said. 鈥淚 love the collaboration festival in general. I love bringing beer people together. I love bringing this community together. I think this is a really fun opportunity for us to just hang out and have a party and try some really good beer to support each other however we can.鈥
