Bystander shot in SW Albuquerque
A bystander was shot in the head in Southwest Albuquerque Saturday evening after people in two cars started shooting at each other, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at around 6:50 p.m. to the 1500 block of Airway Road SW where a person had been shot. The victim — who the sheriff’s office didn’t identify — had been shot in the head. The person was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital.
The person’s condition on Sunday wasn’t known.
“Investigators determined that two vehicles were actively shooting at each other in the area at the time of the incident, striking the innocent bystander,” Sgt. Connor Otero said in a news release.
One of the vehicles was a Mitsubishi Outlander with New Mexico license plate NM-SHT803.
Anyone with information about the vehicle or the shooting is asked to contact the sheriff’s office or submit an anonymous tip through the Tip411 app.
