A man is accused of fatally shooting another man in the International District in 2025 with a gun he received the day before.

Andrew Armijo, 27, is charged with an open count of murder and tampering with evidence in the 2025 shooting death of 26-year-old Edrick Miller. He was arrested and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Sunday and does not yet have an attorney.

鈥淭he Defendant shot and killed Edrick Miller. This is extreme and dangerous behavior,鈥� states a pretrial detention motion filed by state prosecutors. 鈥淭here are no conditions of release that can be adequately fashioned for this type of behavior.鈥�

Officers were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. on May 1, 2025, to 7800 Central 鈥� near Zuni and Dallas in the International District鈥� after receiving a call that Miller was found shot to death near a sidewalk, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court.

Police spoke to a witness who said he found a backpack with a handgun near the crime scene, the complaint states. Another witness told officers she saw Miller smoking on the sidewalk when a man riding on a BMX bicycle shot him and rode away.

On May 9, 2025, officers put out a Crime Stoppers report and learned that a witness had recorded a video of a man 鈥� later identified as Armijo 鈥� hiding in a bush with the bike roughly one hour after the shooting, according to the complaint.

Police obtained surveillance footage from nearby businesses that captured Armijo riding a BMX bike in the area moments before the shooting and directly after. Roughly six months later, officers received a report for the gun that was inside of the backpack recovered by the witness, the complaint states.

On July 14, DNA samples collected from the scene were identified and police used the sample to find the owner of the BMX bike, according to the complaint. Officers learned that the owner had been arrested one day before the shooting.

鈥淰ideo from that arrest showed another man who took possession of the distinctive BMX bicycle and a black backpack that the murder suspect had with him the next day,鈥� states a Sunday news release from Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos.

Officers concluded that Armijo had taken possession of the bike and backpack that was seen the following day, Gallegos said.

A warrant was issued on July 16 for Armijo and he was arrested three days later after an officer saw him 鈥減assed out with drug paraphernalia" in the 10100 block of Central and learned that he had a warrant, according to Gallegos.
