Catching up on some of the state Gatorade Player of the Year award winners for 2025-26 that were announced in June:

Miles Odom, Mayfield鈥檚 stellar pole vaulter who broke a 5A state record in that event at the state meet in May (16 feet, 7 inches) and is ranked among the top 30 pole vaulters nationally, was the boys track and field Gatorade winner. He is going to vault for the University of Arizona.

Anna Hastings of Albuquerque Academy was the girls track and field recipient. Hastings, who is headed to Brown of the Ivy League, swept the three distance races at the Class 4A state meet in May (800, 1,600, 3,200) and she was unquestionably the state鈥檚 top runner during the spring.

Malie Satete of West Las Vegas, a sophomore, was named the state鈥檚 softball Gatorade Player of the Year. The pitcher/catcher led the Dons to the Class 3A state championship in May, batting .638 with 15 home runs and 63 RBIs, and also was 22-2 in the circle with a 1.51 ERA with 304 strikeouts. She is ranked the country鈥檚 No. 6 recruit in the Class of 2028 by Extra Inning Softball, and is already New Mexico鈥檚 all-time record holder in career home runs (63).

Bryson Fankam, a junior midfielder from Hope Christian, is the girls soccer winner for 2025-26. She scored 27 goals and added 14 assists for the 4A state champion Huskies last fall. She is also a first-team all-state selection and is verbally committed to Boise State.

Not surprisingly, La Cueva senior midfielder Winston Starr from La Cueva was the choice in boys soccer. He had 15 goals and 12 assists for the 5A state champion Bears, was a first-team all-stater, and a 近距离内射合集 Soccer Coaches All-American. On Wednesday, he was elevated to the main roster with New Mexico 近距离内射合集.
