Cause of death remains unknown, parents arrested for alleged probation/parole violations
An 8-month-old boy was found dead Tuesday in a home in the North Valley, according to police.
Officers were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of Aztec NW after Albuquerque Fire Rescue confirmed a child was found dead, according to a news release from Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos.
鈥淒etectives with APD鈥檚 Crimes Against Children Unit will investigate to determine the circumstances related to the death,鈥 Gallegos said.
The boy鈥檚 parents, Mark Armijo, 35, and Shawna Sitz, 41, were on probation/parole for dangerous drugs (trafficking a controlled substance) and they were arrested for violating their conditions, Gallegos said.
Multiple police vehicles, including one with the Criminal Investigation Division and a crime scene specialist, were parked outside of a home in the neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
