What were the top baby names in New Mexico for 2024?
Not to name names, but here鈥檚 something to know: Levi and Oliver are back, and so are Aurora and Emily.
Noah and Liam? Boys will be boys, as those two continue to wrestle for first place.
And, girl, whether it鈥檚 Sofia or Sophia, you鈥檝e got a solid chance of finding one of them somewhere out there.
The state Department of Health this week released the top baby names in New Mexico for 2024. The list, compiled by DOH鈥檚 Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics, is provisional and subject to change depending on what the storks have in store for the last few weeks of the year. Or to put it another way, there could be a bump ... in some baby names.
But on to the results: topping the list for the girls were Camila, Mia and Emma, while Noah, Liam and Ezekiel led the boys鈥 side.
As for trends, the Department of Health identified several:
- 鈥淓ight each of the Top 10 names for both boys and girls have stayed on the Top 10 list for three consecutive years.鈥
- 鈥淟evi and Oliver rejoined the boys鈥 list, replacing Josiah and Julian. Levi last appeared in 2021, and Oliver in 2022.鈥
- 鈥淎urora and Emily returned to the girls鈥 list for the first time since 2017, taking the spots of Aria and Luna.鈥
- 鈥淪ofia and Sophia have been Top 10 contenders, appearing in the girls鈥 Top 10 in seven of the last 10 years.鈥
- 鈥淣oah has reclaimed the top boy鈥檚 name from Liam, continuing their long-standing back-and-forth competition for first place over the last seven years.鈥
