A riverfront estate is fresh on the market in northern New Mexico, ready to reel in a new generation of ownership.

The property comes complete with three log-cabin structures spanning 6,430 square feet on a little more than 27 acres of natural terrain at 2143 N.M. 63. It sits in the Tererro community nestled within the Sangre de Cristo Mountains 鈥� roughly 50 minutes from Santa Fe and 30 minutes north of Pecos 鈥� and borders roughly three-quarters of a mile of the Pecos River.

Francesca Stedman, an associate broker with Sotheby鈥檚 International Realty, co-listed the property with a team of three other brokers for $5.5 million last month.

鈥淭o get that much acreage that has over three-quarters of a mile of Pecos River frontage 鈥� we just don鈥檛 find that anywhere. It鈥檚 just unheard of,鈥� Stedman said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 stunning land.鈥�

The current owners, who are retired and based in New Mexico, have used the estate as a vacation spot since purchasing it in 2023. Stedman said they decided to list the property to do more traveling out of the country.

During their time owning the property, the owners continued the river restoration and enhancement work that the owners before them started.

Stedman gave the example of placing massive logs in the river to create fish habitats 鈥� cultivating what the describes as 鈥渦nmatched tranquility, world-class fly fishing and a rare combination of luxury mountain living and outdoor sporting heritage.鈥�

鈥淭he owners just love to fish, and they have created this very special habitat for escaping and getting away from their lives,鈥� Stedman said, adding that the property has 鈥渁n amazing amount鈥� of rainbow and brown trout.

The estate also has a massive breeding pond, several covered outdoor patios, a picnic area and a tree house.

As for the property鈥檚 dwellings, they aren鈥檛 the run-of-the-mill log cabins, Stedman added. They were designed by renowned Santa Fe architect Sofia M谩rquez, who also did work for Robert Redford.

Built in 1998, the main residence comes with three bedrooms, four bathrooms, high ceilings, an entertainer鈥檚 kitchen and rich wood finishes, the listing says. There is also a four-bedroom, two-bathroom guest house with garages and storage. And near one of the property鈥檚 fishing areas is a two-story structure with a studio apartment on the second floor and a game room on the bottom, bringing the property鈥檚 number of bathrooms to nine.

鈥淚t was incredibly designed, and it鈥檚 been crafted with the finest materials,鈥� Stedman said, describing the overall style of the cabin complex as elegant and rustic. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a work of art.鈥�

Since listing, the property has received serious interest from some locals, Stedman said. While the estate has enough land for development, the broker said she and the owners hope to sell it to someone who would be interested in conserving the land.

Based on other listing histories in the area, Stedman said it could be a few years before the property hooks the right buyer. She said she鈥檚 hopeful they come soon, but she鈥檚 enjoying escaping to the property for showings in the meantime.

鈥淲hen you drive in the gate and over the bridge and head up to the house, people are just stunned. All the incredible spruce and ponderosa trees are just huge and tall and lush, and there's a meadow and an area with tons of grass,鈥� Stedman said. 鈥淧eople just stand there, and you don't know where you are. You think, 鈥楳y God, this is New Mexico?鈥欌��
