What is the POTUS thinking? Renaming the Gulf of Mexico, talk of changing New Mexico to NEW AMERICA, and targeting Mexican gray wolves raise serious questions about his character. At this point, it's difficult to view these actions as anything other than deeply troubling, divisive, and disconnected from the issues that matter. BD

If I was re-naming the state, I would choose "EAST CALIFORNIA." We would become the first state with "East" in its name! And it describes the politics. Who can forget the governor's foolish decision to follow California's deadly COVID strategy? All because of her infatuation with Governor Slick. JF

Trump's insult to NEW MEXICO about a name change should bring soul-searching to New Mexicans who voted for him. He has again shown he is filled with racial antipathy and has never been a president of all Americans. BH

The child homecare act will alleviate truancy, part of our problem with education. NM excels too. EN

Names changes have happened before in New Mexico. In 1950, 'Hot Springs' officially adopted the name 'Truth or Consequences,' after the game show. To follow suit, perhaps the name 'Jeopardy' or 'Survivor' would be appropriate--both reflect the challenge of living in a dangerous, CRIME-RIDDEN STATE. SV

I can't believe what the legislature wants with Constitutional Amendment 4. The Legislature could not see giving the citizens of New Mexico a one time small $250 refund, too costly, but they can give themselves an $83,000 PAY CHECK annually. $68,000 pay check + $15,000 per diem. Say no! JMW
