La Cueva, Cleveland set up 1 vs. 2 clash in metro championship match
Each won in straight sets in Friday night's semifinals
No. 1-ranked La Cueva and No. 2-ranked Cleveland will play Saturday night in the championship match of the Albuquerque Metro Volleyball Championships.
The Bears (5-0) and Storm (3-2) each swept their semifinal matches on Friday night and will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Del Norte for the metro title.
La Cueva, playing at Manzano, beat Albuquerque High 25-15, 25-21, 25-15.
Jula Utash registered 18 kills from the outside, and added 13 digs in the victory.
Setter Charlie Ferguson recorded 30 assists and three aces. Lean Jones added 14 kills.
Cleveland and Cibola met at Rio Grande in the other semifinal. The Storm rolled 25-12, 25-17, 25-19.
Raquel Guevara led Cleveland with 10 kills and four aces. Mila Tittmann added eight kills and Molly Maurer had 32 assists and three aces.
La Cueva and Cleveland just played last week, on Sept. 3, with La Cueva winning in four sets.
