1. What would you do to ensure all properties are assessed appropriately and fairly?

Make sure all appraisers in the office are state licensed and certified and adhere to uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices and use generally accepted appraisal techniques.

2. What differentiates you from your opponent? I believe in predictable, transparent assessments emphasizing fairness, stability and trust.

I want to protect homeowners, retirees, and small landlords from sudden financial shock that could force people out of their homes or businesses. I want to keep Bernalillo County locally owned. He doesn't.

3. Do you support or oppose the state's current 3% annual cap on property tax adjustments? Please explain.

I support a 3% cap. It prevents a dramatic spike in property values from turning into unaffordable tax bills overnight. It helps folks on a fixed income stay in their homes, folks can budget and small landlords can plan rents responsibly. It helps keep Bernalillo County owned locally.

4. Do you think changes should be made to the property tax system for short-term rentals? Please explain.

I am in agreement with Memorial 52 passed by the legislature for a study of these properties. It should come through clear, uniform state policy, not inconsistent sudden decisons made at the county level.
