For many years we covered up with homemade window covers when we parked our Promaster camper van.

For the past seven years, we鈥檝e been struggling with our own pieces of Reflectix and have been using four made-to-almost-fit small pieces for the side windows. Duct tape often was needed to reinforce and keep them in place.

Our newly purchased covers unfold and easily snap into place, insulating and protecting from both cold and prying eyes.

Reflectix is reflective, bubble-pack insulation that comes in rolls that can be cut to size. It costs less than $50 for enough to cover several windows. It鈥檚 fine for our back windows and we have curtains to help hold it in place.

But these professional front-side shade covers are so much better designed than what we made ourselves. Each one folds open and closed easily. Just pop into place, and extra-strong magnets hold it tight to the door frame. No more shades falling onto the ground every time a door is opened.

A trip with friends who had rented a camper van had pro covers like these. It convinced us to spend almost $200 on a Black Friday sale that included shipping for the two side covers. It will probably be worth it to spend another $200 for the front window sometime soon.
