From Tingley Beach catfish to Red River trout, here's where New Mexico anglers are finding success this week
CATCHES OF THE WEEK
Patrick Goldbogen, 10, caught a nice smallmouth bass on his first cast using spinner lures near the Taos Junction Bridge on the Rio Grande on July 23.
Muhan Gao was lucky enough to catch a channel catfish in less than 10 minutes of fishing at Tingley Beach using chicken livers on July 25.
James Ellis went fishing with his grandfather, Raymon Sanchez, and caught his first fish using Pink PowerBait and a silver spoon on a bobber at Quemado Lake on July 19.
Avery Chase caught catfish and largemouth bass at Bataan Lake using night crawlers and diving crank baits.

Northeast fishing report
Fishing for trout at Cabresto Lake was slow to fair using a size-16 soft hackle fly.
Streamflow on the Cimarron River near Cimarron on Tuesday morning was 24.3 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good while using a size-14 beaded egg-pattern fly.
The most recent report for Eagle Nest Lake was received July 16. At that time, fishing for trout was very good using Panther Martins. For updated lake conditions, visit the park鈥檚 webpage or call the park office at 575-377-1594.
Fishing for trout at Hopewell Lake was slow to fair while using PowerBait.

Streamflow on the Pecos River near Pecos on Tuesday morning was 32.6 cfs.
Fishing for trout on the Red River was very good using red worms. Streamflow below the Red River Hatchery on Tuesday morning was 25.2 cfs.
Fishing for trout at Red River City Ponds was good using worms.
Fishing was slow on the Rio Grande for smallmouth bass using spinner lures at the Taos Junction bridge. Streamflow below the Taos Junction Bridge on Tuesday morning was 144 cfs.
Streamflow on the Rio Hondo near Valdez on Tuesday morning was 8.57 cfs.
Streamflow on the Rio Mora near Terrero on Tuesday morning was 7.91 cfs.
Streamflow on the Rio Pueblo near Pe帽asco on Tuesday morning was 1.89 cfs.
The most recent report for Santa Cruz Reservoir was received July 16. At that time, fishing for trout was good when trolling the bank using worms.
Fishing for trout at Shuree Ponds was fair using elk hair caddis flies.
Fishing for white bass at Ute Lake was slow to fair using chrome and chartreuse shallow wallet divers.
The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Charette Lake, Clayton Lake, Conchas Lake, Cowles Ponds, Coyote Creek, Eagle Rock Lake, Fawn Lakes, Gallinas River, Harris Pond, Lake Alice, Los Pinos River, Maxwell Lake 13, Rio Costilla, Rito la Presa, Springer Lake, Storrie Lake and Stubblefield Lake.

Streamflow on the Animas River below Aztec on Tuesday morning was 140 cfs. The most recent report was received July 16. At that time, fishing for catfish was slow to fair while using live worms, hot dogs and Panther martins.

Fishing for trout at Canjilon Lakes was slow using spinner lures. Anglers noted a large amount of vegetation growing in the lake.
Fishing for northern pike at Cochiti Lake was slow to fair using diving white spinner baits, but good using pink crankbaits. Fishing for carp was very good using sweet corn from the boat dock.

Fishing for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and northern pike at Navajo Lake was good using spinner baits.
Fishing for trout on the Rio Chama was good using prince nymph flies. Streamflow below El Vado Lake on Tuesday morning was 103 cfs; streamflow below Abiqui煤 Lake on Tuesday morning was 153 cfs. Please remember, from the river-crossing bridge on U.S. Highway 84 at Abiqui煤 upstream 7 miles to the base of Abiqui煤 Dam is special trout waters with a bag limit of only two trout.
Streamflow on the Rio Grande at Albuquerque on Tuesday morning was 0 cfs.
Streamflow on the San Juan River near Archuleta on Tuesday morning was 827 cfs. The most recent report was received July 16. At that time, fishing for brown trout in the bait section was fair to good using worms. Fishing for rainbow trout in the quality waters was good using size-22 red annelid, hand-tied flies, pinched crawlers and worms.
Fishing for trout at Seven Springs Kids Pond was good to very good using Garlic PowerBait and worms.
Fishing for catfish at Tingley Beach was good using chicken liver.
The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Albuquerque Area Drains, Brazos River, Lake Farmington, Liam Knight Pond, McGaffey Lake, Rio Cebolla, Riverside Park Pond (Aztec Pond #1), San Gregorio Lake, Trout Lakes and Tiger Park Reservoir.
Southwest fishing report
Fishing conditions at Bear Canyon Lake have been adversely affected in the aftermath of the Trout Fire.
The most recent report for Bill Evans Lake was received on July 16. At that time, fishing for largemouth bass was very good.
With recent water releases from Elephant Butte and Caballo Lake, water levels are changing across Caballo Lake; boaters should exercise caution in low-water areas.
The most recent report for Elephant Butte Lake was received on July 16. At that time, fishing was fair to good for largemouth bass and white bass using a white shad lure. The South Monticello boat ramp is currently closed due to low water levels. The closure will be lifted when water levels rise and conditions allow. Streamflow on the Gila River near Gila on Tuesday morning was 47.7 cfs.
Streamflow at the Gila Waters near Gila Hot Springs on Tuesday morning was 60.2 cfs.
Fishing for catfish at Lake Roberts was slow to fair using homemade stink bait.
Fishing for trout at Quemado Lake was slow to fair using Pink PowerBait and silver spoons on a bobber.
Streamflow on the Rio Grande below Elephant Butte Dam on Tuesday morning was 0 cfs.
The most recent report for Young Pond was received July 16. At that time, fishing for catfish was good using hot dogs.
The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Escondida Lake, Glenwood Pond, Percha Dam, Rancho Grande Ponds, Trees Lake, Snow Lake and Whitewater Creek.
Southeast fishing report
Fishing for catfish at Bataan Lake was good using nightcrawlers and fair for largemouth bass using shallow-diving crankbaits.

Streamflow on the Black River at Malaga on Tuesday morning was 52.6 cfs.
The latest report for Bonito Lake was received on July 16. At that time, fishing for trout was good using Garlic and Salmon Peach PowerBait. Only fishing activities are permitted at Bonito Lake.
Fishing for catfish at Carlsbad Municipal Lake was fair using chicken livers.
Grindstone Reservoir is currently open for fishing. Due to changing wildfire impact closures, please see the Grindstone Reservoir Webpage before planning a visit. The most recent report was received July 16. At that time, fishing for trout, bass, and bluegill was good using with worms, jigs and spinners.
Streamflow on the Pecos River below Sumner Lake on Tuesday morning was 1,640 cfs.
Streamflow on the Rio Ruidoso at Hollywood on Tuesday morning was 13.1 cfs. Fishing conditions will be adversely affected for an extended period of time due to recent flooding in the area.
Fishing for walleye at Santa Rosa Lake was very good with worms, and for largemouth bass with Pour House custom baits.
The department received no reports for the following waterbodies over the past three weeks: Alto Lake, Blue Hole Park Pond, Bosque Redondo Lake, Bottomless Lakes, Brantley Lake, Chaparral Park Lake, Corona Pond, Dennis Chavez Pond, Estancia Park Lake, Eunice Lake, Green Meadow Lake, Greene Acres Lake, Harry McAdams Park Pond, Jal Lake, Lake Van, Ned Houk Ponds, Oasis Park Lake, Perch Lake, Rio Bonito, Rock Lake Hatchery Kids鈥� Pond, Sumner Lake and Spring River Pond.
