The Santa Fe Opera opens this weekend, find out which operas will kick off the season

Love lavender?

Jo鈥檚 Farms is hosting a U Pick It lavender event from 7-10:30 a.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5. Eventgoers can walk among the fields of lavender and cut a bouquet of grosso or Provence varieties to take home for $30 at josfarms.com. Jo鈥檚 Farms is located at 2017 Rio Grande Blvd. NW.

High notes

The Flutissimo Flute Choir will perform at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, as part of its TGIF concert series. Admission is free, but freewill offerings are accepted. First Presbyterian Church is located at 208 Grant Ave. in Santa Fe.

鈥楬eart鈥 of the matter

The Gallery ABQ is hosting 鈥淭he Heart of New Mexico,鈥 featuring artists from across the state working in a variety of mediums. A reception for the July salon show, which runs through the month, is planned for Friday, July 3, from 5-8 p.m. The Gallery ABQ is located in the Hoffmantown Shopping Center at 8210 Menaul Blvd. NE and is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. The sounds of cumbia

Yeison Landero and Luz Skylarker will perform at the Juno Brewery at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 5. Landero, who comes from San Jacinto, Colombia, is known as 鈥渆l heredero de la cumbia鈥濃 the heir to cumbia. Tickets are $22 at ampconcert.org, with prices increasing day of. Juno Brewery is located at 1501 First St. NW.

Art and education

Valerie Namoki (Hopi-Tewa) will be at the Coronado Historic Site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5, for an artist demonstration. The demonstration is part of an ongoing series at the site on the first Sunday of each month through October highlighting artists from New Mexico鈥檚 pueblos and Arizona鈥檚 Hopi villages. Admission is free to New Mexico residents on first Sundays and for qualifying individuals, and $7 for nonresidents. The Coronado Historic Site is located at 485 Kuaua Road in Bernalillo.

Where the 鈥榃ild鈥 things are

The Open Space Visitor Center is hosting 鈥淲hispers in the Wild,鈥 an art exhibit in its East Gallery. Inspired by artist Cathe Bloomfield Collard鈥檚 childhood, 鈥淲hispers in the Wild,鈥 explores 鈥渨onder, intelligence and magic of the natural world through sculpture and watercolor.鈥 The exhibit runs through Aug. 1. The Open Space Visitor Center is located at 6500 Coors Blvd. NW.

Raise the curtain

The Santa Fe Opera is opening its 2026 season at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, and Wednesday, July 8, with 鈥淢adama Butterfly,鈥 and 鈥淭he Magic Flute鈥 at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Tickets start at $52 at santafeopera.org. The Santa Fe Opera is located at 301 Opera Drive in Santa Fe.
